Origin 1639 Gin & A Most Nobel Water

Forget everything you think you know about gin’s past and discover our newly bestowed Sipsmith Origin 1639 gin. Inspired by the very recipe that sparked modern gin, tucked away in the 1639 standards manual of the Worshipful Company of Distillers of London – The Distiller of London. After deep diving into gin’s 400-year-old history since 1995, master distiller Jared Brown and his wife, Anistatia Miller, unearthed this little gem and cracked the code on 34 secret formulas and 16 variations, all hidden away to keep their mysteries under lock and key. It’s juniper-forward and bursting with berries, just like they made it in the 17th century. You might say, we’re taking it back to how it was gin-tended.

Discover the allure of gin’s forgotten past with Sipsmith® Origin 1639 Gin & A Most Nobel Water – and read all about this devilishly delicious blend, offering a fresh twist on a classic spirit.

While history credits William III, the Prince of Holland, with bringing gin to the English throne – Sipsmith is rewriting the story. Thanks to Master Distiller Jared Brown and Anistatia Miller, who were gifted an original copy of “The Distiller of London” by The Worshipful Company of Distillers, we’ve unlocked a centuries-old secret. Hidden in coded scripture, they uncovered a recipe featuring juniper, orange peel, lemon peel, and orris root—a precursor to modern London Dry Gin.

Embracing our tradition of innovation, we’ve recreated this ancient recipe with a unique approach. We start with a new make spirit, typically used in whisky, which lends a rich, buttery mouthfeel. The juniper heart remains the star of the show but we’ve elevated the flavour with the addition of ripe raspberries and strawberries. After resting in oak barrels and chill filtering, the result is a gin that’s as complex as it is smooth.

Origin 1639 Gin is a perfect blend of classic juniper, vibrant citrus, and a spicy backbone. With its rich berry notes and unique character, it shines on the rocks, in a classic Gin Rickey, or an Old Fashioned garnished with candied ginger.

You’ll also receive a copy of A Most Noble Water by Jared Brown and Anistatia Miller, a book that completely debunks the traditional history of gin.

Experience the gin that’s redefining history—sip by sip, page by page.
