What is a B Corp?
Sipsmith is a proudly certified B-Corp Member, This means adhering to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and accountability, or in other words, balancing profit and purpose.
Set up in 2006, the B Corp certification process was organised to help mission-driven businesses protect and improve their positive impact over time.
Acknowledging that governments and non-profits can only go so far in driving change, we join numerous for-profit businesses helping to tackle some of the challenges our modern societies face
We are incredibly proud to be in this network of change-makers.
We have achieved a number of milestones that have helped us attain B Corp status. Businesses must earn a minimum of 80 points out of a possible 200 to qualify. Under the headings of workers, governance, community, environment and customers, we will work towards improving our score year on year.
We achieved 83.2 points.
This is just the start of our B Corp journey.
Going Beyond The B
At Sipsmith, being a B Corp isn’t just a certification – it’s a testament to our commitment towards a better future for our planet and its inhabitants. As a brand rooted in tradition and craftsmanship, our journey with B Corp pushes us to elevate our responsibility, ensuring we craft a world just as exquisite as our gin.
New Bottle. Same Swan.
We’re committed to being the best gin in the world, for the world. Our new bottle takes our B-Corp certification further, by using up to 44% recycled glass content and weighing 20% less than our previous bottle. You may have also spotted that the wax-dipped lid has been removed, saving 7 tonnes of single-use plastic per year! With these changes, we’ve reduced our carbon footprint and improved recyclability – whilst looking good doing it!
Better For Our Planet
At Sipsmith, our ambition is to make decarbonisation business as usual addressing Scope 1, 2 and 3 Carbon emissions. In 2022, we continued to source our energy from renewable sources yet made strides in reducing our international carbon footprint with the redirection of international shipping routes.
Better For Our Swans
We take everything we do personally, and we want our swans to be able to bring their whole selves to work and thrive in our workplace. In 2022, we became an Includability employer, demonstrating that we are committed to making our workplace inclusive, sustainable and mentally healthy.
Better For Our Communites
We are proud that London is our home and in 2022, we continued to support our local communities, businesses and charities through our swan volunteering programme. In 2022, we completed 439 hours of volunteering an 18.67% increase on 2021.
