Disclosures Under California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 and United Kingdom Modern Slavery Act 2015
Beam Suntory Inc. is pleased to provide the below disclosures under the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 and the United Kingdom Modern Slavery Act of 2015.
As a responsible corporate citizen, Beam Suntory seeks to ensure that quality and safety standards are maintained by well-treated, fairly compensated workers in accordance with all applicable laws. To this end, the Beam Suntory Global Citizenship Policy supports our corporate values by providing guidelines to ensure that Beam Suntory and its employees respect human rights. The Global Citizenship Policy provides that Beam Suntory will not allow the use of forced, bonded or involuntary prison labor. Beam Suntory’s suppliers and contractors are obligated by contract to comply with the Global Citizenship Policy and all applicable laws, including laws related to slavery and human trafficking.
Beam Suntory periodically evaluates select suppliers and contractors on their ability to demonstrate evidence of substantial conformance with the Global Citizenship Policy, subject to local rules and customs. Beam Suntory engages third parties to assist in these evaluations as the circumstances dictate. In addition, Beam Suntory maintains appropriate evidence that the Global Citizenship Policy is substantially being met by suppliers and contractors that have been evaluated, subject to local rules and customs. This evidence may include certification forms, written questionnaires, inspections or other appropriate documentation. Beam Suntory’s employees who have direct responsibility for supply chain management receive training in all aspects of supply chain risk mitigation, which training is intended to identify, among other things, circumstances that suggest a high risk of noncompliance with the Global Citizenship Policy, Beam Suntory’s quality, safety and environmental specifications, and applicable laws.
Any concerns relating to potential noncompliance with the Global Citizenship Policy are investigated promptly. Suppliers that fail to meet Beam Suntory’s expectations will be terminated. In addition, employees who violate the Global Citizenship Policy are subject to discipline up to and including termination.
Anyone interested in additional information may contact Beam Suntory directly.
The disclosure above was approved by the Board of Directors of Beam Suntory on April 17, 2018 as applicable to Beam Suntory and its subsidiaries during fiscal year 2017.
