Six Fruity Gin Cocktails to Sip in the Sun

in Mixology May 24, 2021

Add a ray of sunshine to your summertime sipping with the addition of tropical juices and wedges of zesty citrus. Here are a few fruity gin cocktails to get you started.

We can’t promise that these fruit-forward cocktail creations will count as one of your five a day, but we guarantee they’ll be devoured by those looking for a fruitier, more refreshing cocktail.

1. PASSION MARTINI

Forget the traditional vermouth and instead reach for a splash of passion fruit syrup to create our fruity, exotic take on this classic short serve. It’s also the perfect opportunity to perfect your dry shake, which is essential for crafting the perfect cocktail at home. You’ll need:

  • 40ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
  • 10ml triple sec
  • 20ml lemon juice
  • 10ml passion fruit syrup
  • 1 passion fruit – half juiced, half to garnish
  • 1 egg white (or vegan alternative)

Combine all the ingredients, excluding garnish, in a cocktail shaker. Shake well without any ice (dry shake). Then add ice and shake again (wet shake). Double strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with the reserved passion fruit half.

2. SUMMERTIME SPRITZ

Warm summer days deserve a refreshing, fizzy and fruity gin cocktail, and this easy-to-assemble spritz certainly fulfils all those requirements. Pineapple and passionfruit add a hint of sweetness while giving this serve a distinctly beachside holiday feel. Whether you are enjoying yours in the garden or next to the pool, you’ll need:

  • 30ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
  • 20ml lime juice
  • 50ml pineapple juice
  • 1 passion fruit – half with the flesh scooped out, half to garnish
  • Prosecco, to top
  • wedge of pineapple, to garnish

Add the first three ingredients to an ice-filled wine glass with flesh of half of the passion fruit. Stir a couple of times. Top with prosecco. Garnish with the other half of passionfruit or a pineapple wedge, or both!

3. GIN & (APPLE) JUICE

The addition of apple juice might feel as British as our London Dry Gin, but this fruity cocktail was inspired by Australian bars where juicers are commonplace. Having fallen for the charms of fresh-pressed fruit as a cocktail ingredient, our talented distillers came up with this simple recipe, featured in our Gin Cocktail Book, SIP,  which contains 100 gin cocktails, each using only three ingredients.

For this Aussie-inspired drop, you’ll need:

  • 50ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
  • 100-150ml freshly pressed apple juice
  • apple slices, to garnish
  • fresh ginger slice (optional)

Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled highball glass. Stir to combine and garnish with apple slices and a slice of fresh ginger if you fancy a little fire in your fruity gin cocktail.

4. APRICOT JAM PASSION

Jam might be the classic afternoon tea accompaniment, but it also works delightfully well in a fruity gin cocktail – as this summertime sip shows. You’ll need:

  • 30ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
  • 2 tsp sieved apricot jam
  • 30ml passionfruit juice
  • 10ml lime juice
  • Apricot fan or passionfruit half, to garnish

Add all the ingredients, excluding the garnish, into a cocktail shaker and shake well to combine. Double strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with an apricot fan or half a passionfruit.

And remember, if you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can always use an empty jam jar instead. It’s just one of our many home-bartending tips that are designed to help you serve up sensational gin cocktails using everyday kitchen equipment.

5. STRAWBERRY SMASH CLUB

This indulgent classic – featuring our latest ginny release inspired by our partnership with Wimbledon – takes only a little craftsmanship in order to serve up a sensational slice of summer. You’ll need:

  • 40ml Strawberry Smash Gin
  • 10ml dry vermouth
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • handful of fresh strawberries
  • 1 egg white (or vegan alternative)
  • black pepper, to garnish

Add the gin, dry vermouth, fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup, a few strawberries and an egg white (or vegan alternative) into a cocktail shaker and dry shake (without ice). Then, add ice and shake again (wet shake) before straining into a chilled coupette. Garnish with a fresh strawberry and crack of black pepper.

6. PEACH & GRAPEFRUIT SOUR

If you prefer your fruity gin cocktail with a sour edge, we think this sensationally sippable serve will soon become a summertime favourite. It features the following zesty ingredients:

  • 15ml grapefruit juice
  • 10ml peach liqueur
  • 20ml lemon juice
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • 1 egg white (or vegan alternative)
